Our process produces the best and longest-lasting paint jobs possible

For years we have been specializing in exterior spray-painting of residential homes under the name of We Paint Siding.  This includes pressure washing the surfaces to clean them, then filling holes and other preparation work, followed by thorough masking and protecting of nearby surfaces, and then finally spraying a thick and smooth layer of paint.  (You can see more details about our company at wepaintsiding.com)

While many people were thrilled to update their siding colours, we found often they were frustrated with the colour of their brick.  So we began applying our techniques, with modification to the painting of exterior brick.

It now turns out that painting the brick on exterior homes is a fast-growing trend and can be seen in many neighbourhoods as well as on leading renovation TV shows!

OUR METHOD:

Most painters who attempt to paint exterior brick will either apply the paint by brush only or by spray only.

By using only a brush (or roller), there's no way that the proper amount of product can be applied for the job to last.  The paint just cannot get into and seal all the areas when painting by hand alone.

Likewise, applying the paint by only spray is not preferable either, because without the friction of a brush or roller, the paint will not penetrate into the texture and pores of the brick.  It will just lay on the surface and form a weaker bond, peeling and flaking off after only a few seasons.

So at We Paint Brick, we always back-roll or back-brush the paint after we spray it on.  This is an extra step that makes a big difference for both aesthetics and longevity.

OUR PROCESS:

  • Thoroughly pressure wash and clean all the brick, and allow enough days to fully dry out

  • Fill gaps and cracks in the brick that may be noticeable once it's a solid colour.  Cracks tend to stand out much more after painting, so we make sure to seal them all up

  • Completely mask and protect all surrounding areas and surfaces from possible overspray

  • Apply a generous amount of paint by spray

  • Back-roll or back-brush all the excess paint into the brick, using the friction to work the product into the texture.

  • Remove the masking and reveal the finished product!

YOUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee all of our masonry painting work to not peel or flake for 5 years.  In reality it will take much longer than this before any maintenance will be needed.

Sometimes where there is some moisture presence like around flower beds or in areas where there is poor airflow, you may see some minor localized peeling after 5 years or so.  Touching these areas as necessary is not difficult.  The majority of the paint job will last well over 10 years however.

We are also fully insured for liability, as well as covered under WSIB for safety insurance.
